Even if the banking system is changing due to digitization, checks are still the most often used form of payment. When utilized properly, using checks is straightforward. A bounced check is one of the worrying problems with using a check. Previously, the law of bounced cheque in the UAE states that anyone who issues a cheque that gets dishonored will be facing criminal charges. However, a new regulation that takes effect in January 2022 stipulates that the account holder of a failed check won't be subject to criminal prosecution but would instead be fined. Depending on factors like forgery, stop payment instructions, removing money just before the cheque is cashed, etc., criminal charges may be brought.

In the new Federal Law No. (14) of 2020 Amending Certain Provisions of the Federal Law No. (18) of 1993 Concerning the Commercial Transaction Law regarding the cheques includes a new clause for partial payments of the cheque.

في القانون الاتحادي الجديد رقم (14) لسنة 2020 بتعديل بعض أحكام القانون الاتحادي رقم (18) لسنة 1993 بشأن قانون المعاملات التجارية فيما يتعلق بالشيكات ، يتضمن بندًا جديدًا للمدفوعات الجزئية للشيك.
